@Dorianlynskey The success of private schools in the U.K. is a fairly unique phenomenon, but they are successful here because they offer an appealing proposition. If I wanted to abolish them, I’d remove their appeal by funding the maintained sector properly.1 day ago
@Dorianlynskey Secondly, we need to ask ourselves how do private schools stop the government from investing in maintained education? Wouldn’t a better proposition be: let’s improve maintained sector education to make private education less appealing?1 day ago
@Dorianlynskey Two things then. Firstly, I don’t see any evidence that abolishing private schools will eliminate privilege. Finland often mentioned, but private schools don’t do well there mostly because maintained sector education is well funded and teachers are well paid.1 day ago
